In December 2017, JFS partnered with ACLU to launch the San Diego Rapid Response Network (SDRRN), a coalition of human rights, service, and faith-based organizations determined to help our community’s immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers. In October 2018, this partnership saved lives by opening an emergency shelter when federal immigration authorities began releasing asylum-seeking families onto San Diego streets without food, clothing, transportation or shelter. ACLU’s Executive Director Norma Chavez-Peterson’s vision and leadership propelled the impact of the SDRRN. Together, the ACLU, JFS, and the San Diego Rapid Response Network have made San Diego the nationwide model for how to respond to an urgent humanitarian challenge. And our efforts together ensure that, “No one stands alone in our community.”
