JFS Champs for Change is a quarterly volunteer event series for families with elementary school-aged children who want to give back together. Each opportunity will focus on a different impact area within JFS – from older adults to refugees to families living in their cars. It’s a great way to introduce volunteerism to your children through family-friendly activities that make a direct and positive impact on your fellow San Diegans. Have fun, meet other families, and support our community! Childcare for young children will be provided on site.
Our next upcoming event:
Host the Safe Parking Program Winter Dinner Party
Bring holiday cheer to the individuals and families in our Safe Parking Program while serving up a special seasonal dinner and fun holiday activities. The JFS Safe Parking Program provides supportive services and a welcoming environment for people living in their vehicles, many of whom are experiencing homelessness for the first time. Our Champs for Change volunteers will help prepare and serve dinner, as well as lead bingo and cookie decorating!
The JFS Loonin Family Kitchen will prepare a hot, nutritious main course for our Safe Parking Program guests. We expect to have about 60 people attend this event. We ask that each family joining us for Champs for Change please make a suggested donation of $18 to cover the cost of the main course, and bring either side dish, drinks, decorations, or dessert to ensure a wonderful holiday experience.
We have a cap of 30 volunteers for this event. Register today before this fun family opportunity fills up!
