At JFS, we recognize that single-parenting is a complex journey. Every family has their own set of challenges and dynamics. The common ground is that we love our kids, and share a Jewish identity.
SJSP welcomes Jewish parents at any age, stage of life, or level of spiritual observance. We are committed to addressing the unique needs of each single parent family by offering a support system and a welcoming connection to the Jewish community.
“At my first meeting, I found an instant sense of belonging. There were parents at every stage – some just starting out like me, and others years down the road. They showed me what was possible, and I felt hope.”
Our staff are here to help you navigate the many resources available for Jewish single parents. SJSP can also be a bridge to additional JFS services that support the stability of single parent families – including financial assistance, counseling, career services, legal advocacy, and Jewish Big Pals. Negotiating synagogue, religious school, and daycare fees? We can help with that, too.
Family Camp Weekend
JFS proudly partners on the annual San Diego Community Family Camp at Camp Mountain Chai. The weekend provides a chance connect with your kids, connect with nature, and connect with our Jewish Community. This fun, action-packed weekend includes Family Shabbat and Havdalah, archery, ropes course, nature walks, arts and crafts, PJ Storytime and even breakout sessions for Jewish single parents. Financial assistance is available for those in need. Learn more at https://jewishinsandiego.org/familycamp.
Jewish Big Pals connects Jewish children from single and non-traditional families with a caring adult mentor who can offer a steady connection to the Jewish community.
Our award-winning Positive Parenting Program® (PPP) has empowered thousands of parents to build better relationships with their kids.
From sponsoring SJSP’s Family Camp Weekend to embracing a single-parent family during the holidays, there are many ways you can work alongside JFS to support and strengthen our Jewish community.
