About
After providing our first cash distributions to families through the San Diego for Every Child Guaranteed Income Program, the need for expanded approaches to support more families, seniors on fixed incomes, and residents at risk of homelessness who suffered disproportionately from the COVID-19 pandemic emerged. RAFT has provided one-time cash distributions in the amount of $4,000 to families with children under 18 years of age and seniors 55 years of age and older, prioritizing those at risk of homelessness. RAFT addresses the growing need for flexible funds, connects recipients to resources that help them maximize the receipt of these funds, and supports them in planning for their future. The program serves residents of the 39 Health Equity zip codes of San Diego County and focuses on households earning 200% or less of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). The RAFT program is no longer accepting new applications.
Jewish Family Service’s Economic Mobility programs celebrated a milestone after they finished the distribution of one-time payments to 2,242 low-income families and seniors. In this video, the impact of the program is communicated by several of the participants.
