The Center for Jewish Care is a home for San Diego’s Jewish community—for those in search of a better life and for those in search of opportunities to repair the world (tikkun olam) and to engage in authentic and meaningful Jewish conversations. We connect individuals and families to rewarding programs that give back to our vulnerable neighbors so that they know they are part of a caring community. Through community-wide initiatives, you can participate in holiday campaigns like the High Holy Days food drive, Passover baskets, and Embrace-A-Family. Get involved, give back, and join conversations addressing issues that matter to our community.
Embrace-A-Family
Bring holiday joy to families in need during the December holidays. This is a great opportunity for the whole family, your havurah, or even your synagogue’s Social Action Committee. Help make the holiday season a little brighter for a family who is struggling to make ends meet.
High Holy Days Food Drive
Every year during the High Holy Days, our community supports San Diegans facing hunger. On top of the critical need for food, new challenges arise every day as people struggle with unemployment, reduced income, and housing expenses. Together, we can ensure our neighbors will not go hungry during these challenging times.
Community Conversations
Community Conversations provide connections for the Jewish Community to convene around important topics. Previous conversations have included: Holocaust Survivors in San Diego: Our Commitment and Our Responsibility and Becoming an Anti-Racist Jewish Community. Stay tuned for future conversations.
Community Presentations
Reserve a JFS Presentation for your volunteer or social group to learn about the urgent issues our neighbors face and how you can help! Each presentation is customizable for the age range, specific interests, and availability of your group.
